Residents of the Northwest Territories are speaking out against recent claims that their home doesn't actually exist.

“It’s ridiculous,” said Jane Smith, a long-time resident of Yellowknife. “Of course we exist. Just because you’ve never visited us doesn’t mean we’re not here.”

The controversy began when a popular conspiracy theorist, who goes by the name “Conspiracy Carl,” claimed on his blog that the Northwest Territories are just a figment of our collective imagination.

“I’ve done the research, and there’s just no evidence that this place exists,” Carl wrote in a blog post. “It’s all just a clever trick to make us think it’s real. They’re very sneaky.”

But residents of the Northwest Territories are fighting back against these claims, with many sharing pictures and videos of their homes and communities on social media.

“Here’s a picture of me standing in front of the Legislative Assembly building in Yellowknife,” wrote one Twitter user. “Doesn’t look like it’s not real to me.”

Despite the evidence, Conspiracy Carl remains unconvinced.

“It’s all just part of the conspiracy,” he said in a video posted to his YouTube channel. “The government is trying to control our minds and make us believe in things that don’t exist. We were duped into believing ‘Toronto’ exists in the same way.”

Meanwhile, the government of the Northwest Territories has issued a statement reassuring residents that their home is, in fact, real.

“We understand that these claims can be confusing and unsettling, but rest assured that the Northwest Territories exist and will continue to exist,” the statement read.

Despite the reassurances, many residents are still feeling uneasy.

“It’s just so frustrating that people can believe in these absurd theories,” said Smith. “I’m just trying to live my life and raise my family here, and now I have to deal with this nonsense.”

For now, residents of the Northwest Territories will continue to prove their existence, one social media post at a time.
